1968 — "The Monstrous Monkee Mash" (prod. #4767) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 50th episode of The Monkees.
The sponsor of the week was Yardley Of London, and the song heard was "Goin' Down" written by Diane Hilderbrand, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz & David Jones and produced by Chip Douglas.
Trivia Footnote: Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In premiered directly after the firstrun telecast of "The Monstrous Monkee Mash" on NBC. Monkees writer Coslough Johnson is the brother of Laugh-In regular Arte Johnson. David Panich, one of the writers of "The Monstrous Monkee Mash", was also a celebrated member of Laugh-In's writing staff. David Jones was later seen in a February 10, 1969 episode of Laugh-In (in which he plays Romeo to JoAnne Worley's Juliet in a Valentine's Day sketch), and The Monkees (sans departed Peter Tork) guested in an October 6, 1969 episode of the series (in which they portrayed Spirits Of '76, medieval knights, and salesmen), their last nationally televised appearance together as a group during their original hey-heyday.
