1967 — “The Prince And The Paupers” (prod. #4733) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 21st episode of The Monkees.
This show was sponsored by Yardley Of London™ and featured the song “Mary Mary” written & produced by Michael Nesmith.
1971 — “The Monkees Get Out More Dirt”, Episode No. 29 of The Monkees (prod. #4738, first aired on NBC April 3, 1967), was repeated @ 12:30p.m. EST on CBS, with a new song added: "Steam Engine" written by Chip Douglas.
1968 — "The Devil And Peter Tork" (prod. #4737) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 52nd episode of The Monkees.
Yardley Of London™ sponsored, and "No Time" written by Hank Cicalo and "Salesman" written by Craig Smith (both produced by Douglas Farthing Hatlelid) were the featured songs.
It received an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement In A Comedy Series For 1967-68; sadly, it lost out to the Bruce Bilson-directed "Maxwell Smart, Private Eye" segment of Get Smart (NBC/CBS, 1965-70). Ironically, Gerald Gardner and Dee Caruso, the writing team who cowrote this and several other Monkees episodes, composed several episodes of Get Smart prior to writing for The Monkees! (Is it any coincidence that three of their previous Monkees scripts, Episode No. 5, “The Spy Who Came In From The Cool”, No. 17, “The Case Of The Missing Monkee”, and No. 26, “Monkee Chow Mein”, were spy-oriented??)
1967 — “Find The Monkees!” (a.k.a. "The Audition") (prod. #4721) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 19th episode of The Monkees.
Slicker and English Eyes by Yardley Of London™ took its turn at bat this week to sponsor this segment, which featured the tunes (produced by Michael Nesmith) “Papa Jean’s Blues” & “Mary, Mary”, written by Michael Nesmith, and “Sweet Young Thing”, written by Michael Nesmith, Gerry Goffin & Carole King. Also, the original commercials you would have seen were Slicker by Yardley (:30), Oh de London by Yardley (:30), Kellogg's Corn Flakes with Cowboy and Son (1:00) and English Eyes by Yardley (1:00).
1971 — “The Case Of The Missing Monkee”, Episode No. 17 of The Monkees (prod. #4731, aired on NBC January 9 and July 24, 1967), was repeated @ 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
1968 — "The Monstrous Monkee Mash" (prod. #4767) first aired @ 7:30 p.m. EST on NBC as the 50th episode of The Monkees.
The sponsor of the week was Yardley Of London, and the song heard was "Goin' Down" written by Diane Hilderbrand, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz & David Jones and produced by Chip Douglas.
Trivia Footnote: Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In premiered directly after the firstrun telecast of "The Monstrous Monkee Mash" on NBC. Monkees writer Coslough Johnson is the brother of Laugh-In regular Arte Johnson. David Panich, one of the writers of "The Monstrous Monkee Mash", was also a celebrated member of Laugh-In's writing staff. David Jones was later seen in a February 10, 1969 episode of Laugh-In (in which he plays Romeo to JoAnne Worley's Juliet in a Valentine's Day sketch), and The Monkees (sans departed Peter Tork) guested in an October 6, 1969 episode of the series (in which they portrayed Spirits Of '76, medieval knights, and salesmen), their last nationally televised appearance together as a group during their original hey-heyday.
1972 — “Monkee See, Monkee Die”, Episode No. 2 of The Monkees (prod. #4705, aired on NBC September 19, 1966 and May 1, 1967), was repeated @ noon EST on CBS.
